Hawaii  in a container?

This is one of the most tropical looking blooms a garden can have in our area. Elongated stiff leaves reach about 3-4' tall with the brilliant Orange-yellow-purple  blooms appearing mostly during the spring and again in the fall.

Bird of paradise is a short day length bloomer. During the middle of the summer there may not be as many flowers. Fertilize on regular basis and do not allow to sit in water, they can handle the dry side if needed.

Protect from freeze during the winter. Bring inside or store in a shed, garage or very protected area.
