A FEW FACTS ABOUT OUR WINTER WEATHER

          • The average First Freeze for the Metroplex is November 22
          • The earliest freeze on record is October 22, 1898
          • The latest recorded first freeze was January 4, 1972
          • The average number of freezes each year is 36

When a hard freeze is in the forecast, make sure the garden and annuals are moist. Plants tend to survive better when their bed is moist than they do in a dry bed. Something like an "igloo" effect. Pansies do not usually require covering to survive, but if you are wanting to cover some plants, always use fabric, an old sheet, blanket or nursery fabric works best (never use plastic).

El NIÑO

We are in a global weather pattern known as El Niño. El Niño means "Little Boy" or "Christ's child" in Spanish. This name was used for the tendency of the phenomenon to arrive around Christmas. This weather pattern occurs in the equatorial pacific and happens when the water surface temperature is warmer than average. During El Niño winters, we experience wetter than normal conditions and often milder, but wet conditions across the southern half of the country.

SALE ITEMS

Our shrubs are on sale for 50% off, and fall / winter are a great time to get new plants in the ground so that they can get well established before the summer heat sets in. And with El Niño we should have enough moisture to get them well on their way.

We also still have a great selection of our fiberglass planters on sale for 50% off, along with a big sale on our water features and fountains.
