OUR PLANTS ARE GROWING ..... AND SO IS OUR BUSINESS

For over 25 years, we've been growing and selling landscape plants and flowers for the Metro-Plex in our Southlake location (pictured on the right). Our business grew (pun intended) and we have added Flower Ranch #2 (pictured above).

With an inventory that can include up to 20,000 flats of flowers for your selection along with our dedicated and experienced staff of employees, The Flower Ranch is a premier shopping destination to brighten up any yard, patio or garden.

Adding our new location gives us five acres of land and new greenhouses to help us continue to supply all of your landscape planting needs.

Come see us at FLOWER RANCH #2

READY EARLY

With the cooler nights and pleasant days a good selection of this year’s pansy crop has come ready early. Normally ready sometime during the first or second week of October, some varieties are ready to start planting now. The rest of the colors and varieties will be right behind them on schedule.

FALL HOURS FOR BOTH LOCATIONS

Beginning Monday September 26th through Wednesday November 23rd

Monday - Friday:  7am-5pm
Saturday: 8am-5pm
Sunday: 10am-5pm

We will be closed for the four day week end of Thanksgiving. December, January and February hours will be Monday through Friday 8-4.   Many people think we are closed for the winter months; we are still open with limited hours for the winter. As always our hours are listed prominently on the home page of our website.www.TheFlowerRanch.net.

RECIPE FOR SUCCESS WITH FALL-WINTER ANNUALS
(Pansies, viola’s, kale, and other winter annual color included)

Pansies transplant best when the night temperatures are cool and crisp with bright sunny days and the soil still warm, not hot.  Although we have fresh crops from October 1st through February next spring, getting them established and rooted in before the first good freeze enables them to flush out and root into the ground better. Any time between now and the end of November is perfect.

Our crops are grown locally and went through the hotter part of the end of the summer, and are now experiencing the same cooler nights and bright sunshine that they enjoy just like we do. There is no climate shock for them since they do not travel from other areas of the country or the state. They are well established to the warmer days and cooler nights ready to be planted.

PANSY SEASON AND WATERING

To get a new bed of pansies established, water them in thoroughly at planting. Set the sprinklers to come on the two days a week allowed by the city. One hand watering between cycles for the first week or two will be more than adequate to get them well rooted and established. After they have become established twice a week watering is more than enough for pansies. During a normal fall season overwatering pansies cause more damage every year than any other issue. After the temperatures settle into the 70’s and 60’s once per week irrigation is ideal for pansy beds.

***Even if you have access to well water, or live in an area without restrictions, these guidelines still apply. Pansies suffer more from overwatering every year. We address this issue each season, only this year the restrictions will help, not hurt for once. For properties over seeding winter rye grass, wait until the grass is up, and the irrigation is scaled back before planting the color. The amount of water needed to germinate rye grass is a death sentence to pansies.
