Name: Impatien Fanfare Spreading |
|||
Once upon a time, Impatiens were used only for the shaded gardens here in North Texas. Meet Fanfare Spreading Impatiens and welcome them right out into the sun. Fanfare has been on the market for a few years and we have been growing them for about four years now, here is what we have learned: Yes they are totally capable of taking our summers and full sun. Plant them early to get them well rooted and established before the heat sets in (after any late frost potential is over). As with any annual but especially for Fanfare, bed prep is a must, rich well drained organic soil ensures healthy vigorous plants and blooms. Regular irrigation with sprinkler systems is okay for most of the spring and early summer, as it really gets hot addition water is required and the plants will easily tell you when they need more water, but they bounce back up after wilting with little to no damage when water is supplied. Lastly- they are fast growing and cover a large area per plant. Give these little darlings plenty of room. As the name implies "Fanfare SPREADING Impatien" they do spread and they do grow. Space them about 12-18" apart to give the plants room for a solid base before crowding out and reaching up. And with the spacing that we can plant them, it takes the cost per bed down even though the cost per flat is considerably more than regular impatiens. |
